Young at Heart: Railroad Legend and Lore
There is nothing more lonesome or more intriguing than a train whistle in the distance. The advent of railroads in the 19th century left few aspects of American life untouched. The railroads brought new jobs, new goods, and a host of new legends and lore that give us a glimpse into life on the rails.
Fee: $15 for adults, $10 for seniors (55+), $10 for children (3-12). Departure is from Rockside Station at 12:25 pm or Akron Northside Station at 2:00 pm on May 4, 2008.

Since American Indians first stepped into the Cuyahoga Valley, people have found creative ways to travel to it and through it. Join Park Ranger Pamela Machuga and costumed characters as we explore modes of transportation that range from canal to rail, bikes to planes, and how each changed the valley and those who called it home.

Christmas Tree Adventure - Reservations Recommended
Yes, it's that time again ... heavy jackets, hats, scarves, but like tradition has it, there is something to look forward to and that's taking the train and trolley to Heritage Farms to pick out your beautiful Christmas Tree. You can cut the tree your self or pick one out that is already cut. The staff then tags it, bags it, and it's on the train with you, no worries! During your stay in Peninsula you can also treat yourself to lunch at one of the local restaurants. This trip will run the last weekend in November and the first 2 weekends in December.
Fee: $25 for adults, $20 for seniors (65+), $12 for children (3-12). Departure is from Rockside Station at 10:15 am on November 29 & 30, 2008.

CVNP and CVSR invite you to climb aboard our vintage train cars. Along the journey, Rangers will share stories of those who came before us. Depart the Akron Northside Station on Saturdays January 12 through February 23, 2008 at 10 am or 1 pm. Please allow 1-3/4 hours for this trip.
Fee: $10 per person. Departure is from Akron Northside Station at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on February 2, 9, 16 & 23, 2008.

Storytelling on the Train: Lessons in the Underground Railroad - SOLD OUT
Do you know the code words? Could you find your way north under the cover of night? Who can you trust? Learn the answers to these questions and more as we learn the lessons of the Underground Railroad. After your lesson you'll journey to the Blue Heron Book Store where you'll enjoy a warm fire and be tested by costumed actors who will bring the past to life. Explore the dangers and triumphs of traveling an Underground Railroad.

Maple Sugar Express
Ride the train to Hale Farm & Village. Travel to the year 1814 to meet a pioneer family who will share the ancient process of maple sugar production including tree tapping, sap collecting and syrup tasting.
The cost for admission to Hale Farm & Village and breakfast is Adults $15, Seniors $13, and Children $10 ages 3-12
