The
purpose of the First Ladies National Historic Site is to educate
the public about the lives, accomplishments, and impact that
our First Ladies had in helping to shape the course of our
nation's history, and therefore upon the world. The Site is
a museum, a library, and an institution of learning. Docents
dressed as First Ladies conduct tours through the family home
of First Lady Ida Saxton McKinley. Decorated in the Victorian
style of the 1860s, the Saxton McKinley mansion is documented
for its historical authenticity. Exhibits constantly change
to showcase First Ladies.
