2012 Upcoming Special Events

 
Tickets can be purchased on line by visiting the event calendar, selecting the date you want to ride, the station you wish to depart and purchasing tickets! OR, you can buy them the day of your trip  prior to departure.
Some Special Events, such as wine-tastings and ale tastings, require advanced purchase of tickets.
(Please note, there is a $2 processing fee for on-line and walk-up ticket purchases)



National Park Scenic
Explore the length of beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) from the comfort of a warm train car. As you peer out the windows, you might catch a glimpse of a white-tailed deer, bald eagles soaring above, families hiking along the Ohio & Erie Towpath trail, or skiing at Boston Mills Ski resort, and historic buildings that hold within their frames stories of those who have called this valley home.

Peninsula Explorer
Depart the Akron Northside Station, or the Brecksville Station. After a short trip through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, hop off in Peninsula to explore the unique shops, galleries and restaurants during a 1 /12 hour layover. As the train returns, it will pick you up and return you to your departing station.
 
 

SPECIAL EVENTS: 

February 5th
Sunday Matinee: Lessons in the Underground Railroad
Do you know the code words?  Could you find your way noth under the cover of night?  Who should you trust?  Hear the answers to these questions and more as you learn the lessons of the Underground Railroad.  After your lesson, you will be tested by actos and actresses who will then share their stories and bring the past to life.  Explore the dangers and triumphs of travelling the Underground Railroad on the experiential journey.
Tickets: $10 (plus a $2 processing fee)
Depart Botzum Station at 11:35 am OR Rockside Station at 1:30 p.m.
This program is offered one-way of a 3 hour round trip excursion.
 
February 12
Happy 40th Anniversary Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad!
Join the crew and staff of CVSR as we kick off a year long celebration of the not-for-profit, 501 c3's 40th Anniversary!
There will be cake, party favors and lots of other fun stuff!
All tickets just $10 per person (plus a $2 processing fee)
Departing Botzum Station at 11:35 am OR Rockside Station at 1:30 p.m.
 
March 11th
Sunday Matinee: "Great Train Robbery"
Take a trip into the Wild West as we explore the advent of the railroad and the new generation of outlaws it spawned.
Tickets $10 per person (all ages)
Departs Rockside Station at 1:30 p.m.
This program is presented one-way during a 3-hour round trip.
 
March 25th
Easter Bunny Express
See what the Easter groundhog has been up to all winter long!  Join CVSR & CVNP as you travel to Peninsula and hop on a bus to Happy Days Lodge and enjoy an Easter egg hunt, puppet show, crafts and more!
Tickets: $25 adults / $12 children (3 - 12)  (plus a $2 processing fee)
Departing Rockside Station at 10 am and 1:30 pm
 
 
April 15
Sunday Matinee: "The Roaring 20's and the CCC"
Our colorful actors will bring the past to life in this upbeat look at two decades that shaped the nation and the valley.
Tickets:  $10 per person for all ages
Departs Rockside Station at 1:30 pm
This program is presented one-way during a 3-hour round trip.
 
May 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27, 2012
A Day Out With Thomas - the Mystery Tour
Spend the day with Thomas the Tank Engine as he comes to Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad to pull our train!
