The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers excursions year-round, with seasonal changes in schedule. The train travels north-south through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, between Independence and Akron, OH. There are three boarding stations — Rockside, Peninsula Depot and Akron Northside — and additional Bike Aboard! stops.
*Please be advised: Two sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail will be closed beginning December 11, 2017, and continuing through June 2018. Closure locations include the section between Boston Store Visitor Center and the Interstate 271 Bridge; and between Deep Lock Quarry and Hunt House. CVSR offers a variety of train excursions:
National Park Scenic
The basic excursion — a 3-hour round-trip embarking from any of the three depots. Your coach ticket is good all day, so you can get off the train and explore.
Ride your bike one way along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and take the train the other way. Affordable and fun.
Beer & Wine Tastings
A two-hour excursion with tastings, chef-prepared hors d’oeuvres and a CVSR tasting glass to keep. Must be at least 21 to ride; ID required.
Murder mysteries, trivia night, themed excursions and other special events throughout the year.
Regular dining excursions every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and trips to Hale Farm & Village.
Private Car Rentals
Rent a caboose, observance dome car, the luxuriously art deco St. Lucie or another of our cars for your own private party or event.
The Polar Express
The popular holiday excursion for kids of all ages, running throughout November and December. Tickets are sold out for the 2017 season.
Purchase tickets online in advance! You can search by departure location, event type or by date. Print your tickets right at home!
You may also purchase tickets at Akron Northside station, Peninsula depot or Rockside station at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Special event tickets require that tickets be purchased in advance.
