Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers excursions year-round, with seasonal changes in schedule. The train travels north-south through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, between Independence and Akron, OH. There are three boarding stations — Rockside, Peninsula Depot and Akron Northside — and additional Bike Aboard! stops.

Excursions

CVSR offers a variety of train excursions:

National Park Scenic
The basic excursion — a a three-and-a-half-hour round trip embarking from any of the three depots. Your coach ticket is good all day, so you can get off the train and explore.

Bike Aboard!
Ride your bike one way along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and take the train the other way. Affordable and fun.

Beer & Wine Tastings
A two-hour excursion with tastings, chef-prepared hors d’oeuvres and a CVSR tasting glass to keep. Must be at least 21 to ride; ID required.

Special Events
Murder mysteries, family programs, themed excursions and other special events throughout the year.

Steam in the Valley
The historic Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 comes to the Valley this September. During this two-hour round trip, passengers will have the opportunity to deboard the train at a secure location for an exclusive photo opportunity.

Weekly Events
Regular dining excursions and a weekly Read Aboard program for families.

Private Car Rentals
Rent a caboose, observance dome car, the luxuriously art deco St. Lucie or another of our cars for your own private party or event.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™
The popular holiday excursion for kids of all ages, running throughout November and December. Tickets will go on sale in October.


Tickets

Purchase tickets online in advance! You can search by departure location, event type or by date. Print your tickets right at home!

You may also purchase tickets at Akron Northside station, Peninsula depot or Rockside station at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Special event tickets require that tickets be purchased in advance.
